The cultural trail leads through an area of the town steeped in history.
The trail starts and finishes at Århus farm in Århus.

Attractions en route include the Carp Dam at Århus Farm, Cudrios Venstøp, burial mounds Ibsens Venstøp (the playwright's childhood home), rock carving and Fossum and a lot of other interesting history.

Skien Historical Society has produced a guide booklet to the area ( Skien Historical Society, NOK 30,-), which is available from the tourist office in Skien.

Richly illustrated info boards providing informative text have been set up along the trail.
